This system allows you to easily extend the cargo bed into the rear passenger compartment to make room for longer items or extra cargo - then quickly change the system back to allow for the comfortable seating of four adults.

Performance

With a horizontally-opposed SUBARU BOXER engine sending power to all four wheels through Subaru's legendary symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system and a heavy-duty raised suspension providing extra ground clearance and all-road capabilities, the Baja makes the whole world your playground.

The 2006 Baja features a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, aluminum horizontally-opposed SUBARU BOXER engine, whose pistons move side-to-side, like a boxer throwing an endless combination of perfects rights and lefts. This engine configuration is not only naturally smooth, but also very compact, allowing the engine to be installed closer to the road. This creates a lower centre of gravity, which translates into improved responsiveness and driving enjoyment. With 165 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and 166 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 RPM, the Baja has the power to handle any adventure.

With a heavy-duty raised suspension offering minimum ground clearance of 205 mm, the 2006 Baja is equally at home on snow-covered highways or muddy cottage county trails. This 4-wheel, fully independent suspension features stabilizer bars, front MacPherson struts with lower L-arms and a rear multi-link set-up, making it the perfect complement to the Baja's symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system.

To help ensure the 2006 Baja is able to stop safely and securely, it features front ventilated disc brakes and rear solid disc brakes augmented by a 4-channel, 4-sensor, 4-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) that helps the driver to apply heavy braking while steering away from trouble without the risk of skidding.
